Did you know that your skin goes through several processes during the night and that you can help encourage them? Before adding a night cream to your routine, we’ll tell you everything you didn’t know about them.

During the day, the time when we face the elements, the skin activates defence mechanisms. At night, on the other hand, the skin activates repairing and detoxifying mechanisms. So it’s important to use a night cream that supports the skin’s recuperation and hydration processes. You probably already use a day cream, but perhaps not a night cream.

We’ve previously spoken about a few, and you’ll already know that each night cream performs a different function, but You didn’t know this, did you?

  1. Night treatments contain ingredients that compensate for nutritional deficiency providing immediate comfort, and ingredients that help improve the skin’s reparation and detoxification mechanisms. Consistent application of the product will improve the state of the skin and its barrier function, improving the skin’s recuperation at night.
  2. As with day treatments, night treatments contain hydrating active ingredients; however, they generally also include a higher concentration of nutrients than day creams. They usually include active ingredients that help enhance the effects of the skin’s nocturnal mechanisms, such as keratolytic LHA (lipohydroxy acid) which promotes skin exfoliation, caffeine which has a draining effect and makes the skin look well rested, adenosine which has a smoothing effect, etc. In general, comfortable, enveloping, fresh and fast-absorbing textures are the most popular.
  3. As Mercedes Abarquero tells us, it’s better to apply the night cream as soon as you get home, because pollutants have been shown to have a negative effect on our skin. But only after removing makeup and cleansing your face! Although our hurried life often means that we simply don’t have time, it’s important to remember that this should be done every day, even if it’s right before going to bed.

So now you know the benefits and functions of a night cream. Let us know if you’d use one!
